Am I entitled to paternal leave?
As a proud dad you are also entitled to a few days off! Current Belgian legislation provides for 15 days of paternity leave. You can take these consecutively or spread out during the 4 months after the birth.
The first 3 days of your paternity leave are entirely at the expense of the employer: you keep your full pay. For the remaining 12 days, your health insurance will pay an allowance amounting to 82% of the capped gross salary. You apply for you paternity allowance from both your employer and your health insurance with an original copy of the birth certificate.
